Our Story

For years, leaders and laypeople in the Anglican Diocese of the Mid-Atlantic prayed for an Anglican church in Frederick. A small group of Christians living in and near Frederick gathered to pray and take early steps toward a local Anglican community.

In June 2024, the diocese called the Reverend Seth Zimmerman to lead the church plant, and the community adopted the name St. Andrew's Anglican Church. Weekly worship began in July 2024.

The name reflects the church's mission. In Mark 1:17, Jesus calls Andrew and Peter to follow him and become fishers of people. Andrew was among the first disciples called, brought his brother to Jesus, and often served faithfully behind the scenes. His example reflects our desire to follow Jesus, be formed by Jesus, and invite others into his family.

In October 2024, God provided a small chapel at Good News Presbyterian Church. As the congregation grew, members began praying every Tuesday at 4:19, inspired by Philippians 4:19, for a larger worship space. On April 19, 2026 - 4/19 - St. Andrew's held its first service at Edgewood Church of God.

Today, St. Andrew's gathers weekly as a growing, multigenerational church plant. We are grateful for God's provision and eager to see disciples and churches multiply throughout greater Frederick. There is still room in this story, and we would be glad to welcome you.
